I am trying not to think but it's inevitable, and I am trying not to wonder but my mind wanders, but mostly I am relaxed and content and that mountain air should be bottled and sold as the cure for what ails you because it truly is wonderful. I bought a pair of red Pumas yesterday and everyone has remarked that I should click my heels three times and I laugh and say there's no need, I'm already here.

There's no place like it.

Btw, to clear up confusion, the quote I posted was not from a concert I attended, unfortunately the Counting Crows have skipped Chicago this summer in their county fair tour (jerks). I got it from the [livejournal.com profile] countingcrows community and I love the way Adam uses his words. It rings true. Sometimes you fuck up and you know you're fucking up and you know you should stop it and you just do it anyway. That feeling and I have become quite intimate in the past few weeks.

Anyway. The concert I DID go to, Nickel Creek and Fiona Apple, was so incredible. I rarely go to concerts, the only people I ever see are Tori Amos and the Counting Crows and whoever happens to be touring with them. I will now add Nickel Creek to that short list, when they come back (this was their Farewell For Now Tour, and I hope they don't stay away for long because they are too good, too earnest and too real). The show was incredible, they played a great mix, including The Fox, This Side, Best of Luck, Jealous of the Moon, Reasons Why, Out of the Woods, Scotch and Chocolate, Anthony, Why Should the Fire Die?, and many other instrumentals. They also played for Fiona as her band, and she did Limp, A Mistake, Criminal, Fast as You Can, Extraordinary Machine, Paper Bag, etc. They also did a cover of Patsy Cline's After Midnight that Fiona ROCKED and they closed the show with Tonight You Belong to Me (the song Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters duet in The Jerk, LOVE THAT SONG). It was incredible. I'm glad Fiona was there but I was also a little bummed, it WAS Nickel Creek's Farewell Tour after all, I wish they'd played more. But I'm not going to complain, it was a great night, the weather was perfect, and I got laid before AND after. YES.

I just had a reunion with my director, dance teacher, and 3 girls I grew up with in the center church where we put on many a show back in the day. It's good to be home.

How come I got stuck at LaGuardia for 14 hours and Adam got to wait on the cast of Superbad?

I have been at LaGuardia for TEN HOURS. I am about to kill someone, starting with all the people at American Airlines.

I really fucking hate New York.

I went to bed at 2:30 on Friday, woke up at 7:30 when Adam asked me to drive him to work on Saturday, went back to sleep until 9:30, worked a 14 hour day, got home at 2, cleaned and packed then started the new Harry Potter, slept from 4 to 5, got myself to the airport, read on the plane, and hung out and drank with my friends all afternoon and well into the evening.

I don't know how I didn't die of exhaustion, but it was awesome. I hate NYC but I adore my friends. We're off to meet Steve for lunch in Manhattan and then who knows?
