helikedmyshoes: (bush fuck you america [missandrony])
I watched the news all day. It dragged on for hours and no one was getting any help. The politicians held their press conferences saying they had to stop holding press conferences. Buses never came. People were still standing outside by the Superdome and the convention center like they have been for days now. I saw the old woman dead in the wheelchair with a plaid blanket covering her.

It's not getting better. It's been five days, and it's NOT GETTING ANY BETTER.

This is just heartbreaking.

Some news sites I've saved throughout the day...

Michael Moore's letter to President Bush
- God bless Michael Moore and his "Hey you, this is everything you're doing wrong and don't think we don't know it, you stupid fuck" attitude. I don't care what anyone says, I think he is a brave, brave man who stands up for the people and cuts through the political bullshit that has choked this country. Maybe his sarcasm is off-putting, but I dig it.

Katrina's real name is GLOBAL WARMING
- That's right, Mr. Bush and all your lackeys over at the oil companies and other companies that continue to pollute our environment. Global warming is real, and it's frightening, and what's more frightening is that you are polluting this world so fast that it will never recover. How can you look at your children, at the people around you, and be okay with that?

Scientific American predicted this would happen back in October 2001
A real interesting read. Eerily prophetic. Amazing that this was so predictable and yet people are so surprised that it happened.

This whole thing has exhausted me. I am sickened by our government, heartbroken for my fellow citizens, and scared at what the future holds.

And Kayne West is fucking awesome. "President Bush does not care about black people." Although he should've clarified. Poor black people. POOR.

Molly and I ate at the same restaurant as Kelly Osbourne tonight. We are so LA.

Molly wanted to go to Jerry's Famous Deli in Beverly Hills, so off we went and there Miss Osbourne was. She was dressed like a '50s housewife. I had an omelette and a bagel, and a cannoli for dessert. It was delicious.

Afterwards we went to see Junebug, a movie that broke my heart. I cried, because I'm sappy like that. I really liked it, though. And I saw some great previews for Dandelion, Everything is Illuminated, and Steal Me. I want the music from all three trailers.

I'm going to read Kavalier and Clay now, and fall asleep early. I walked a lot today, so much that I lost count of the laps around the track. I even ran. While I was home, I weighed myself for the first time since February. Back then I was 130 (yikes!). I am now 119. I haven't been that since high school. Go me!

Pjs are calling my name. (My own tonight, even!)
